Welcome to our Wyoming blog. On this blog I have been sharing how we came to move here and the 'adventure' we have been on every since. We started with a hillside, and today (6 years later) are finally putting in some landscaping. We are by no means done. I hope you will come along on our adventure.

I also have 2 other blogs. Big Horn Mountain Creations show cases my quilting and other artistic adventures. Decorating my Tin Shack, is about creating a home thru decorating. Both are on the side bar, I hope you will stop by.

Wood Stove Cooking & Spoiled Kitties

Wood Stove Cooking:

Back in October we had early snow, 2 weeks of snow storms. During that time we also had a short (4 hrs) power outage. It occurred to me that it would be a good idea to try cooking on the wood stove that keeps us warm. So I found my dutch oven and put it on the stove with water to see if it would get hot.....it boiled nicely.

So the next day, out came the onions, carrots, celery, chicken, noodles and broth. The soup simmered nicely on the stove all day. It turned our really well and once the cold weather returns I will try cooking on the wood stove again.

The kitties in our house have become very spoiled. It used to be that they were not even allowed in the house, now they have taken over the sofa. Here is Missy Mew taking her afternoon nap in my chair (I cover it with a sheet to keep the hair off). She looked so cute I just had to share. Me Moew, has his spot as well, so when you come to my house and see sheets all over my sofa it is because of the kitties. LOL.

Cooking on a wood stove has to be an artform. Smart you are trying out early before it is a necessity. Can you bake a cake?

I was just telling my granddaughter that back in the day they did all the canning so when winter came in hard and heavy they had great food.

Keep posting.

Nothing beats a dinner of dutch oven cooking - roasted potatoes in the d. oven, over a campfire, is my favorite.

Are you getting snow today? It's quite cold and dreary here...

PS: Missy Mew is a doll.
