Welcome to our Wyoming blog. On this blog I have been sharing how we came to move here and the 'adventure' we have been on every since. We started with a hillside, and today (6 years later) are finally putting in some landscaping. We are by no means done. I hope you will come along on our adventure.

I also have 2 other blogs. Big Horn Mountain Creations show cases my quilting and other artistic adventures. Decorating my Tin Shack, is about creating a home thru decorating. Both are on the side bar, I hope you will stop by.

Wildflowers

What a pretty day we are having today. I was out walking about the property and came up some wildflowers in bloom, so headed back to the house for the camera.....batteries low..so put them on the charge and got some none rechargeable out, who knows when I will get the pictures taken if not now. So I thought I would share them with you.

This orange one is called a Scarlet Globemallow (Sphaeralcea coccinea) the Mallow family
(Malvaceae) also includes Mountain Hollyhocks, White checkermallow and Purple checkermallow that grow in Wyoming. I had the Scarlet Globemallow in my yard in Southern California also, I called it a bee catcher because the bees or flies would get caught in its flowers, that is ok with me on the fly issue.

This one is a sunflower but I could not ID it, pretty little plant about 12 inches high with its leaves in a basil arrangement.

These are what caught my eye and sent me for the camera, they are all over our hill some in a bright yellow, some a softer yellow leaning toward apricot (here) and then one that was an apricot color. Most of you know that this is a Plains Prickly Pear Cactus (Opuntia polyacantha) now I did not know it was a Plains PPC so I learned something today, I only knew them as PPC.

I also did a bit of work in the hillside garden adding some pots, and rearranging things a bit. We need to go to town this week so I hope to find a few more flowers to add. Kirk also got a little fence for me to help keep the dogs from using the garden as a pathway.

I hope you enjoyed the wildflowers, I will add more as I see them....I missed the Indian Paintbrush, our state flower, because I did not have my camera with me.....sigh.

Until later, God Bless

What a beautiful day we had today. We spent the morning up in the mountains, so pretty. I will share some of the pictures next time.

Here you can see one of my first flowers of the year, a double patunia. Just opened today.

Rusty wanted to say hello, he was helping as we reworked the steps and put in the new walkway. He is 10 months old now. He supervised the job very well and got into the middle of it a time or two, he found that he liked the rocks and was licking and bitting at some of the likens on them. LOL.

We are truly coming up in the world. Last year the walk way here was wooden pallets, now we have beautiful flagstone and gravel. Sure is nice to walk on, instead of being unsteady I now walk without a thought to where my feet are going. This will be much nicer for our guests who stay in the 5th wheel......could we be rednecks? Our guest room is a "camper".

Here you can see the reworked steps, Kirk did all of this work...to heavy for me. The old steps were to close together and one could not place the foot there except sideways, now it is nice and wide and again, I give no thought to going up or down them. I tripped many times on the old ones. Again much nice for guests.

I wanted to share a little update on the hillside garden, we now have crops up. What you see is yellow crookneck squash, what you can't see are onions, carrots and radishes.

Hope you all have had a great Sunday,

Spring Fever

Oh do I have spring fever, I want everything to be full and beautiful...but alas though I have started a "garden" it is quite sad. LOL. I do have things coming up, just impatient. Here are the straw bales I was telling you about, the potatoes are planted and are growing just have not made it above the dirt (yes, I dug down to see). I had to put wire over the frames, not to keep the deer out but to keep Rusty from unplanting the potatoes.

The lilacs about town are nothing short of amazing, there must be 200 lilac bushes and all are heavily laden with beautiful, sweet smelling blooms. These are old bushes, alot of them are at least 12 to 15 feet tall and as wide. It is my understanding that this is the first year in about 10 that the blooms have not been frozen off. All the fruit trees are in bloom, too. Needless to say, it is beautiful...all the green and flowers.....except on my hill. I am impatient for sure, but this will all take time...as we need a well before I can get to crazy with flowers and such.

Better get to the sewing machine and work on quilt #3 for the quilt show. I am posting pictures on my CQ/quilt blog (link is in the sidebar), please stop by and have a look.

Geenhouse Update

An update on the greenhouse. Wahoo!! As you can see some of the walls are taking shape. LOL, I can hear you "walls" ...........yep those are part of the walls, the windows will go in the large upper parts and the bottom parts will get more studs. Ok come on down to the next picture and you'll see

Ok, so this view isn't helping but you can see the roof line and the interior of the greenhouse, what a wonderful day it has been, just beautiful (of course today- the day of this writing is not so nice). The window on the left is the kitchen window, sure changes things in the kitchen with the greenhouse addition.

Now you can see the front of the greenhouse and how it has gone together, with windows all along the front. It will make more scents as we go along. The door will be there by the dish and one more window on that side wall. Oh and you can see the tire planted which has onions growing in it. Ok more later, need to get back to those quilts for the quilt show.

Thanks for check in. Until later.
