Welcome to our Wyoming blog. On this blog I have been sharing how we came to move here and the 'adventure' we have been on every since. We started with a hillside, and today (6 years later) are finally putting in some landscaping. We are by no means done. I hope you will come along on our adventure.

I also have 2 other blogs. Big Horn Mountain Creations show cases my quilting and other artistic adventures. Decorating my Tin Shack, is about creating a home thru decorating. Both are on the side bar, I hope you will stop by.

Prayer Request ---Update

I want to thank everyone who is praying for Arnie. I have an update, it is not very nice.

*********
Hello everyone, I just wanted to give a quick update on Arnie. Cheri had to rush him into the hospital yesterday morning
He was in alot of pain and very swollen. Cheri said by the time they got to the hospital the cancer was oozing from his eye.
They have admitted him and they have in on some very strong pain meds so at least he has been able to rest.
The doc is going to move his surgery to the very first part of the week next week ( I will keep you posted)
Also please say a prayer for Dillon and Hailey they are going to be telling them about the face deformity tomorrow.
The phys say they should not tell him about the cancer just yet so that will be another blow when they do. I know
kids are resilient but I am very sure this will be hard on them. God bless you all. Love you. Michele

Thank you for your continued prayers.

Urgent Pray Request

I am asking for prayer for a friend of our family. This is a really hard one to write about.

Please pray for Arney. He has just found out he has cancer, Arney is 40, he is married to Sherry and they have 2 children under 10. What makes this cancer so ugly is that it is in his face. They are going to do surgery which will remove the whole left side of his face, eye, teeth, jaw and down into his neck. If he doesn't have the surgery they give him 4 months. With the surgery he will also undergo chemo and radiation.
You can imagine the emotional turmoil this family is going through. Not only the cancer but the very public deformity. How do you explain these things to children?.
Of course he will no longer be able to work and doing the things he loves, will be at the very least be on hold until he can be rehabilitated again. Will he be able to talk?
Insurance is only going to pay for part of it so now they worry about losing everything.
Please add this family to your prayer list, share this request with all you know.

Several years ago I asked you all to pray for my friends GD and you all spread the word and she is now a happy normal 2 year old. So I am asking for the same for Arney.

Wyoming Parade & Straw bales

We had a Wyoming Parade.........also known as a traffic jam, today. LOL. This is the view of our road today as a herd of cattle was being moved to new fields, now mind you this road runs right through the heart of our town. Kirk said he was sitting on the porch of the Paint Rock Inn (where we go to eat) as the cows came through town. In this picture the cows are coming from town. This is about mid way in the herd, see picture 3 for the front of the herd.

Just a close up as they passed by, aren't the calves darling?

The other end of the herd headed out into the desert to feed on the beautiful spring grass.

I have begun work on the garden area up on the top pad. Beginning to edge with rocks, which also clears the planting areas.

We got our potato bales (straw) for this year, last year we had 4 so I doubled it this time. The first two set of bales are planted, need to get some more seed potato at the grocery store. Yep, they carry seed potatoes and onion sets at the grocery store here, probably not anything new to most, but they didn't do this where we used to live so I was pleasantly pleased.

I do have to tell you that Rocky was alot of help planting the potatoes. First he decided to eat one of the seed potatoes (I rescued it) and then.....................HE DRANK MY ICE TEA!!! I think I miss named him.....he should have been named BAD DOG II.

Cute isn't he? His name is Rocky, we should have named him Clifford. He is a doll and we love him, but Rocky is very lazy, ya he is a lab and his looks are all that is lab. He won't go to much trouble for anything much EXCEPT playing with things that don't belong to him. Thus.............

I have had to create cages for all of my barrels (current planting beds). These are not to keep the deer out but to keep Rocky out. Now mind you Rocky is only 5 months old, shouldn't he be bouncing off the walls? He doesn't learn real fast either, unlike Lady who gets it first time out.
He will be really good with the grandkids, there is not a mean bone in his little/big body. He is a lover though, and I think he thinks I am his mom, LOL. He hates to let me out of his sight.

I thought this was and interesting thing. These are plants that survived the winter and are going wild now that it is warming up. Now mind you it got to -25 and I did nothing to protect these guys, onion and spinach. I will make sure there are new ones planted in the fall for next spring. Grin.

An update on the building project. The forms are in place for the first part of the pour, Kirk is getting it all leveled out. We have to get the insulation down and the pipes for the in-floor heat, hoping to pour this coming Monday and if the weather does as predicted it will be a perfect time to get concrete. I did the drawings for the addition, looks like the windows may break the bank, but we will have an awesome view.

I thought I would share the next to pictures, this is of course the present fire wood location, it's future use will be my flower garden.

Here you can get a better idea of it's placement in respect to the house. I am looking forward to having a pretty garden.......at least I hope it will be pretty..................

See that wood pile down
there? Ya, down there,
that is where all the
flowers, herbs and
a tree or two will be
(this picture was taken
last year). The trailer
(on the left)
has been moved
and the new
construction is
in that space.

The planter in the forground is on the upper pad of our place and will hold veggies shortly.

Happy spring.

Spring in the Green House

Spring has sprung in the green house. It is still not settled enough here in my zone 4 area to plant tender things outside. Though the onions and spinach from last year survived the -25 temps and are growing beautifully. I will be sure to plant more spinach to get a head start for next year.

On the bench in the picture below are, 6 kinds of tomato, lettuce- 3 kinds, wild mustard, tansy, nettle, marigold, calundula, purple basil, parsley, hosta, alyssm, Black eye Susan, Ech, chives, and more that I can think of right now.

In front of the windows are some wine barrels for planting out the tomatoes later. My gardens are still in the 'someday' stage. With the building project and still having to haul water it is not something I can do just yet, next year (keep your fingers crossed). I do have two new beds up on the top pad and will be using it once the weather warms to stay and hopefully the wind isn't so fearsome later as well, it is blowing hard again today. We are so thankful no one was hurt when the shed went, will be glad when the weather calms (I hope).

Until later.
